Change to Student Evaluation Form
Starting this academic year, there is a change to the student evaluations. The question regarding student research has been removed from the student evaluation form. Instead, this information now is collected through the preceptor/site evaluation completed by the students.
Under the new evaluation process, students indicate the type of research they are involved in during their rotation. This includes a range of activities, such as conducting literature reviews, developing research questions, contributing to written project protocols, and completing Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications. Other activities like data collection from patient charts, patient interviews and data analysis are also tracked.
By making this shift, we aim to streamline the evaluation process while gathering valuable data on student research projects. This new approach allows us to better track and support student research endeavors effectively.
The revised question is as follows:
What type of project/research activities are you involved in while on rotation? Select all that apply.
Conducted a literature review
Developed a research question
Contributed to a written project protocol
Completed an Institutional Review Board (IRB) application
Collected data from patient charts
Interviewed patients with a pre-defined set of questions
Surveyed patients on a specific health-care topic
Selected appropriate data analysis procedures
Analyzed data
Prepared a written report from data gathered
Completed an Institutional Review Board (IRB) application
Completed an IRB approved project
Wrote an abstract
Developed a poster/slide deck based on a project
Worked in a lab on a bench-top research project
Medication Utilization Evaluation (MUE)
Other site-specific quality improvement project that does not involve any of the activities listed above.
