Program Overview
The MCW School of Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program is available to residents and practicing pharmacists in the Milwaukee area. The program was designed to be flexible and accessible, featuring a combination of live sessions and online recordings. The program provides opportunities for residents to apply what they are learning in the program by providing didactic lectures, facilitating patient care lab activities, and precepting students on rotations.
Completion Requirements
Practicing pharmacists can choose to complete the program over 1 or 2 years. Upon successful completion of the program requirements, participants will receive a certificate from the Medical College of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy and be recognized at a graduation ceremony in June.
Attend & Complete Orientation
In-Person on Friday, July 19 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Attend & Complete Seven Monthly Sessions
2nd Wednesday of the month from 4:30-5:30 PM
Complete Three Online Modules
Completed in place of monthly sessions in December, January, and February
Deliver at least One Hour of Didactic Lecture at MCW
Facilitate Six Patient Care Lab Activities at MCW
Design One Patient Care Lab Activity
Create & Submit a Teaching Philosophy
Create & Submit a Teaching Portfolio
(Co-)Precept One IPPE/APPE Student or Resident (if able)
Enrollment
Enrollment is open now until July 10, 2024. Those that wish to complete the program can enroll using the link provided HERE. Preference will be given to residents, with no capacity limits on the number of residents admitted. Practicing pharmacists will be admitted on a first come, first served basis until capacity is reached.
The program is offered to current pharmacy residents at no cost. Program fees for practicing pharmacists are $400.00. Discounts are available for the MCW Pharmacy School preceptors through the Preceptor Benefits Program (contact pharmacyee@mcw.edu for more information). Program fees must be paid in full prior to orientation.
Orientation
Program orientation will take place in-person at MCW Main Campus in Milwaukee on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. More information will be provided following enrollment.
